Frequently Asked Questions

For outdoor sessions, my favorite times to shoot are sunrise and about an hour before sunset (depending on the type of session you book).  There is nothing better than the soft golden light you get with with the sun behind you.   

For indoor sessions, mid morning is where it's at.  Light is typically streaming in your windows evenly and creating beautiful little pockets of light you didn't even know existed. 

Life happens and sometimes the weather goes down the crapper REAL quick.  Sometimes your kid wakes up covered in vomit and then sometimes you have a family emergency that takes priority.   I will absolutely work with you if we find ourselves in this situation.    The sooner you can let me know, the better.   I do not overbook myself and leave multiple options for rescheduling.  

My number one rule....wear what makes you, feel like YOU!  The last thing I want is for you to look at your photos in 10 years time and think, "WHY?!?!"   If you are not one to wear a flowy dress and wide brim Gigi Pip hat, THAT IS TOTALLY FINE!  I am creating art for YOU, not my instagram feed.  If you ARE one to wear the flowy dress and wide brim hat, I am here for that too!!! This is about you and what you LOVE, not what someone else thinks you should be! 

My 2nd rule?  Comfort!  Find something you can move, sit, dance and cuddle the heck out of your kids in.   

Here are the basics to avoid: anything with words, horizontal strips, tiny plaid patterns you find in mens button up dress shirts, and everyone wearing the same color shirt and blue jeans (yikes!).  Once you book your session we will work together to get you ready for your photos.  I am here to help! 

I truly love the editing process, its part of the job that I unexpectedly found a LOT of joy in.   I want you to have the most amazing images and I provide you with both color and black and white edits.  Typically my turn around for editing is 2-3 weeks, but during busy season (aka, FALL) it can take up to 4 weeks.   Please know that I don't want to give you the short end of the stick by rushing through edits, just to get the images to you faster.  It is WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

With each collection, you will receive high resolution images that you can print wherever you'd like.  For prints 11x14 and smaller, we love www.mpix.com for all your printing!  They are the consumer lab to our professional lab and do not disappoint!  If you are looking to print larger, we recommend going through us and investing in heirloom artwork that will last forever and you can pass down to your children. 

As soon as possible!  It truly is NEVER EVER  too early.  If you are looking for a session in Kansas City, I have more availability and am much more flexible.  If you are booking for Colorado, I open my calendar for the following year each December and sell out within a few weeks.  If you'd like to get on the mailing list for Colorado sessions, sign up for our mailing list!
